Cuffing Season Tour – Chicago Stop Recap

Crafted By Pam G Visualized by Summer Coleman

Chicago’s Arie Crown Theater was a blustery place last Sunday night. Outside, the wind was cutting through coats, but inside? Pure heat. The Cuffing Season Tour lit up the city with a lineup that reminded everyone why R&B is still the soundtrack to love, hustle, and late‑night vibes.

Erick Bellinger kicked things off with precision—vocals sharp, runs smooth, and that Usher‑style riff that sent the crowd into a frenzy. His set included fan favorites like Drive By, Obsession, and Don’t Shut Off the Lights. He didn’t just sing; he set the tone, proving he’s got the chops to keep R&B alive and thriving.

Then Lloyd came through like a rockstar of intimacy. Forget the stage entrance—he walked through the crowd, snapping selfies, giving hugs, and making fans feel like family before he even hit the mic. His energy was unmatched as he ran through the classics—Southside, Player’s Prayer, You, and Get It Shawty. The audience sang every word back to him like it was karaoke night in the city. It was a vibe: pure nostalgia mixed with raw connection.

Closing the night, Jagged Edge reminded Chicago why they’re the kings of R&B crooning. Their setlist pulled from J.E. Heartbreak and beyond, with timeless ballads like I Gotta Be, Promise, and Walked Outta Heaven, alongside uptempo hits like Where the Party At and He Can’t Love U. Smooth harmonies, timeless ballads, and that undeniable JE magic—it was everything you expected, and more. The ladies were singing every word, the fellas were nodding along, and the vibe was pure grown‑and‑sexy.

Needless to say, these R&B heavyweights brought the heat, proving that even on the coldest Chicago night, love songs and slow jams can set the city ablaze.
